“The love between Astrid and Ethan is epic and classic, while hilarious and risque all at the same time! I’m honestly not sure how Robyn Peterman pulled it off!!” ~Becca
Literally.
The Hell where the Prince of Darkness is hotter than Hades, Hell Hounds smell like brownies and the Seven Deadly Sins are addicted to Facebook… Not to mention the soundtrack in the Underworld is Journey. For real.
I should have known no good could come from offing my parents in the space of twenty minutes no matter how psychotic and evil they were…
Now I find out my family tree includes almost every deity and mythological being alive while Ethan, the one and only love of my undead life has a limited time down under before he turns to dust. In the land of Sin, you’d think I’d get some nookie time with my man, but no. Baby Demons, cousins and grandparents put the kibosh on that. Blue balls are the new normal. What the hell does a half-Vampyre Half-Demon have to do to catch a break?
Apparently find a freakin’ sword, calm Mother Nature’s unmedicated mood swings and make sure Mister Rogers keeps his sticky fingers to himself during weekly poker with the Devil.
And I have three days to do it.
By all that’s unholy, I thought Ethan’s Vampyre family was crazy…Trust me, they have nothing on the Demons.
You may remember that I didn’t care for Fashionably Dead in the beginning…actually it was like nails on a chalk board! But I kept reading…got past the first few chapters and fell in love! Yes, it was still flawed and had some issues, but the story line was unique and hilarious!
Now, on to this book! Astrid and Ethan are still our main characters, but we get to meet quite a few newbies and don’t hear from our old favorites AT ALL! (Seriously…not even a thought about all of your friends and family back on Earth?) Anyways, Astrid is in Hell, literally, and is meeting some family that she kind of wishes she didn’t have to meet. Let me try and break this down a bit (I promise no major spoilers): Satan and God are her uncles, the seven sins and Jesus (can’t forget that one!) are her cousins (+1 extra awesome cousin), and you will never guess her her grandparents are!
Hell is not what she expected, while she is surrounded by demons and Hell hounds…and people from heaven that just like to play poker! (Umm..wait what?) There are soooo many things about this book that just left me giggling, shaking my head and thinking WTF?
So what about our love scenes, our chemistry…our steamy moments? Well, they are few and far between for our poor, poor Ethan and Astrid. (Did I mention that Ethan’s walk into Hell probably didn’t go as planned?) Thanks to her busy body family in Hell, Astrid and Ethan both end up with quite a case of blue balls! The chemistry is still there at least! These two are explosive and so well developed that you can relate to them easily. I often found myself cursing and yelling when they would get interrupted yet again.
The love between Astrid and Ethan is epic and classic, while hilarious and risque all at the same time! I’m honestly not sure how Robyn Peterman pulled it off! This is definitely a steamy romance! Let’s just say when they finally get the chance to be together it is just as amazing and explicit as the first book! The fact that this love is now growing to encompass that of their unborn child just makes it even sweeter! There are a few moments where Ethan is kissing on Astrid’s belly and speaking with the baby that just make the reader go “aaawwweee”!
The story line…hmm..well the story line is definitely what I would call unique! At times it is even what I would call crazy, insane and just plain weird! It kept me laughing and wondering what was going to happen next, that is for sure! The ending…just wow! I so didn’t see that one coming! I was almost in tears…almost!
There was one part of the book that I’m a little confused by and pretty sure contradicts itself…I don’t want to give anything away but let’s just say that General George is apparently in two places at once when he goes to the basement to “save” Astrid, or at least this is how it came across to me when I got to the big reveal near the end.
Even with the issues that I know are in the book, I still loved it! The characters are well developed, easy to love and have a depth that keep them real. The story line, while pretty out there, is unique, hilarious, and somehow really romantic all at the same time! I can’t fully explain why I recommend this book…but I do! It was totally worth the time and the money!
